Why keep a bike maintenance log?
Keep a clear record of what was done, when it was done, and what needs attention next. A care log makes it easier to look back before a service or share your bikeโs history with a mechanic or future buyer. Keep receipts and service documents alongside it; your own notes do not replace those records or guarantee a warranty claim.
-
Whatโs inside the Care Log.
Six sections keep the details together: equipment for your bike and trainer information; usage readings for distance and hours; service history for completed work; next service for what you plan to do next; guidance source for the manufacturerโs instructions you are following; and notes for anything else you want to remember.
-
Bike distance and trainer hours, kept separate.
Record bike distance and trainer hours separately, using the measure specified in your equipmentโs care guidance. Zwiftโs virtual kilometres are not a direct measure of wear on every part of your real bike. Indoor riding still uses the drivetrain, and sweat can affect your equipment. Keep the type of reading clear rather than treating virtual distance, bike distance and trainer time as interchangeable.

Printable or offline: which one suits you?
Prefer pen and paper? Print the PDF and fill it in by hand. Prefer typing? Open the downloaded HTML log in a browser and use it offline, with no login. Choose the format that fits your routine, and keep your records up to date after each service.

Keeping your records safe.
The HTML log saves entries in your browser for convenience. Treat that saved copy as temporary: clearing browser data can remove it, and opening the log in another browser or on another device may not bring your entries with you. Export a JSON backup regularly and keep it somewhere separate from the browser. The restore option lets you load a saved backup into the log. Keep your existing backup before restoring, and check the records afterwards. A printed copy is useful to read, but it is not a JSON backup.

What it doesnโt do.
This is a record-keeping tool. It does not supply default service intervals or send automatic reminders. Add the guidance for your own bike, trainer and components, then review your records yourself. The log cannot assess wear, diagnose a fault or tell you that equipment is safe to use. Follow the manufacturerโs instructions and seek qualified help when needed.
